Corrections
Report a specific issue
Corrections help keep a technical reference useful. Send reports through Backup Generator Guide’s editorial contact form↗. Include the page URL and the exact wording, calculation or reference you believe needs attention. Use “Generators Wiki correction” in the subject so the report identifies this publication. The shared form is operated through our related publication, Backup Generator Guide.
Useful reports include factual errors, misleading generalisations, omitted rating conditions, incorrect units, broken citations and wording that could confuse equipment operation with installation requirements. A clear explanation of what should change is welcome; you do not need to rewrite the whole article.
What to include
Provide the supporting source when possible. For equipment documentation, identify the manufacturer, exact model or series, manual title, revision or publication date, and relevant page or section. A link to the original document is preferable to an unattributed extract.
If the issue involves a calculation, show the inputs, units and assumptions. If it concerns an installation requirement, identify the jurisdiction, applicable edition or manufacturer instruction that changes the answer. These details help distinguish an actual error from a statement that applies to a different model or set of conditions.
Do not send passwords, account details or other sensitive information. This channel concerns published reference content. It cannot diagnose an active equipment fault or provide an installation approval.
How corrections are assessed
The correction standard is to compare the report with the affected wording and the underlying source. A proposed replacement needs evidence just as the original claim does. Where the report exposes an unsupported generalisation, the appropriate change may be to narrow the wording, add a condition or remove the claim.
Confirmed errors should be corrected in the article and any affected references. A substantial correction should make the changed meaning clear; minor spelling or formatting fixes do not need a prominent notice. The page’s recorded date should be updated when the affected source check or substantive content changes.
No response deadline or guaranteed outcome is promised. Reports are assessed on their evidence and relevance to the page. A disagreement with a practical resource link can be reported too, but it should identify the specific concern.
Publication accountability
Generators.wiki is an owned publication and shares ownership with Backup Generator Guide. That relationship does not remove the need to correct inaccurate technical content. The editorial policy and sources and references pages describe the standards used to assess claims, citations and links to owned resources.
